LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

In June of 2016, St. Peter’s Nursery School in Osterville celebrated the completion of the first phase of its new state-of-the-art playground.

 

This playground is designed for children ages 2-5 and 5-12, with an emphasis on exploration, imaginative play, spatial awareness and motor coordination. The new equipment is designed to accelerate learning, promote healthy development and inclusive play. The surface, the first of its kind in Barnstable, is comprised of anti-static, anti-microbial playground turf.

“At St. Peter’s Nursery School, we believe in teaching to the whole child,” Charlene Krig, executive director, stated in a news release. “Physical health is a core area of development where children build confidence, coordination, resilience and positive physical habits through active play. We are thrilled to bring a new playground to our program and to the neighborhood.”
